The objective of this thesis is to develop ketogenic take away meals to be sold at the grocery store K-Citymarket Järvenpää, which is the commissioning company of the thesis. The purpose of the product development is to broaden the selection of ketogenic products at the store as well as to make the company more known as a seller of ketogenic take away meals. In addition, the purpose is to gain understanding of potential buyers of ketogenic products through customer research. Similar research regarding the ketogenic diet has not been published before. Therefore, the research conducted during this thesis provides the company with new information that is relevant in the future development of said products. The main theoretical subjects of the thesis are ketogenic diet and service design process. The ketogenic diet, its benefits, risks and different variations are introduced in addition to its definition. The product development of the ketogenic products is implemented through a four-phased service design process. The methods chosen for the process are customer research through the online form of Google Forms, customer personas, benchmarking as well as a recipe workshop, prototypes and testing. The conducted customer research shows that the target group of the products also includes customers who do not follow the ketogenic diet. 55 percent of the 225 respondents are or have previously been on the diet, but in addition as many as 75 percent of other respondents are interested in buying ketogenic products. Based on the research, customer personas are made to describe example target groups of the products. These could be implemented in planning marketing for example. The results are also utilized in the recipe workshop that is held to generate ideas for the recipes together with the commissioning company. The chosen recipes are then modified based on the recipe testing. The final recipes are put together in a booklet, which includes ingredient lists, step-by-step recipes, portion sizes and nutrient information for each recipe. The booklet could be distributed to the kitchens at K-Citymarket Järvenpää in order to assure consistency of taste and appearance in their production. Furthermore, the company is given ideas for future product development. A customer satisfaction survey is also made for when the products will be published. Through further development the products could be evolved to satisfy the customers’ needs even better....
